Microsoft Skills for Jobs is a set of micro-degree programs gathering several timely accurate courses. It has been developed in cooperation with universities and mentoring companies.
Micro-degree programs focus on a specific ICT competencies. It’s a form of education that allows all kinds of learners to demonstrate mastery in a particular area without needing to complete a full degree program – or be a member/student of a higher education institute.
The participating mentoring companies are the most prominent companies in their field and their interest is in recruiting excellent new employees. The challenge for companies is to be able to distinguish from a big number of job applicants those people who have the right skill set. Skills for Jobs micro-degree programs also meet this challenge and facilitate companies' recruitment efforts.
Micro-degree programs are increasingly popular in fields that are rapidly changing, like technology, where there is a specific set of skills. Upon completion, learners receive digital LinkedIn badge to their profile to demonstrate their competency in the subject matter and also claim the possibility to have ECTS study credits. The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a tool of the European Higher Education Area for making studies and courses more transparent. It helps learners to move between universities and countries and to have their studies recognized. ECTS allows credits taken at one higher education institution to be counted towards a qualification studied for at another. ECTS credits represent learning based on defined learning outcomes and their associated workload.
