Double Degree Programme

Studies in the double degree programme offer the students a chance to spend one year of their studies at a partner university. After successful completion of the double degree programme, the student will receive a degree from two institutions. The structure of curricula and the contents of the studies in both institutions have been carefully compared. The studies completed at the partner university will be fully acknowledged by the home university.

When you start your studies in the double degree programme, a personalized study plan will be drawn up. Completing two degrees at once, shows future employers that you have gone through an international education and acquired intercultural competence and valuable experience from another country.  

Double Degree Possibilities for Bachelor's Degree Students

Bachelor's Degree Students

Each double degree program starts with individual study plan. In most cases, you will have to complete 50-60 ECTS during the year spent at the partner university. In addition, the study-related practical training (30 ECTS) has to be completed according to instructions. Completing the degree also includes a Bachelor thesis (15 ECTS) that will be written in English under supervision of academic staff from both universities.

Double Degree Programme I (Germany Kosovo)

Double Degree Programme I (Germany, Kosovo)

Completing a double degree means:

Studying for one academic year at KAMK and accomplishing a minimum of 60 ECTS of courses. Students can choose the courses from the list of studies offered. The compulsory courses for all dd-students are Finnish for Exchange Students (3 ECTS) and Academic English (5 ECTS). First year courses are not recommended.
Completing a practical training (30 ECTS) either in Finland or abroad in a working environment relevant to the field of studies.
Writing a thesis (15 ECTS) in English. Teachers from both universities are appointed as supervisors
After finishing all the requirements for the Bachelor's studies at the home university, please submit a copy of the diploma (scanned) to the International Office.
Graduation: After completing the above mentioned requirements successfully, the student will be awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration / Bachelor of Hospitality Management (depending on the field of studies) at the end of the programme.

During the double degree programme students will accomplish a total of 105 ECTS from KAMK. The double degree students are registered as full-time students at KAMK after completing the one year of studies at KAMK successfully. Before starting the practical training and thesis work, students should contact the International Office of KAMK to enroll for the current semester.
Double Degree Programme II (Russia)

Double Degree Programme II (Russia)

Completing a double degree means studying for one calendar year at KAMK:

Semester 1: accomplishing 35 ECTS of courses. Students can choose the courses from the list of studies offered. There may however be some restrictions related to timetables or specializations. Compulsory courses for dd-students in Business are Finnish for Exchange Students (3 ECTS), Academic English (5 ECTS) and Research Methods / R&D Studies (5 ECTS). There are also certain degree-specific requirements, that will be checked at the start of the studies.
Summer: completing a practical training in Finland, Russia or abroad in a working environment relevant to the field of studies. The practical training is in total 30 ECTS (ie. 5 months of work in a company) that can be completed during two summers before and after the studies at KAMK.
Semester 2: accomplishing 20 ECTS of courses and writing a thesis (15 ECTS) in English. Supervised by a teacher from KAMK. The thesis should be finished before leaving KAMK.
After finishing all the requirements for the Bachelor's studies at the home university, please submit a copy of the diploma (scanned) to the International Office.
Graduation: After completing the above mentioned requirements successfully, the student will be awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration / Bachelor of Hospitality Management / Bachelor of Sports Studies (depending on the field of studies) at the end of the programme.

The double degree students are registered as full-time students at KAMK after completing the one year of studies at KAMK successfully.
Double Degree Programme III (China)

Completing a double degree means:

Studying for one academic year at KAMK and accomplishing 55 - 75 ECTS of courses. The courses to be completed at KAMK are planned based on the programme and studies completed at the home institution.  Completing a practical training (18 - 30 ECTS) either in Finland or abroad in a working environment relevant to the field of studies. The length of the practical training depends on the programme at the home institution. Writing a thesis (15 ECTS) in English. Teachers from both universities are appointed as supervisors.

After finishing all the requirements for the Bachelor's studies at the home university, please submit a copy of the diploma (scanned) to the International Office.
Graduation: After completing the above mentioned requirements successfully, the student will be awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration / Bachelor of Hospitality Management (depending on the field of studies) at the end of the programme.

Double Degree Possibilities for Master's Degree Students

Master's Degree Students

Applicants for the double degree programme must meet the following requirements:

  • Work experience of at least 2 years
  • Successful completion of the first semester at UMTE (30 ECTS)

Studies at KAMK will be completed online and they do not require attendance in Finland.  You will have to complete a total of 10 ECTS online courses as well as the Master's Thesis (30 ECTS) which can be started after completing the the compulsory course. 

Application Procedure

If you are interested in participating in the double degree programme, please contact your university's International Relations Office first to see if it's possible.

The students should be nominated by their home university, the deadline for nominations is 15 April (autumn semester) and 15 October (spring semester). The applications should be submitted by 15 May for studies starting in the autumn semester and 30 October for studies starting in the spring semester.

The applicant will be interviewed by KAMK international coordinator before making the final decision.

Tuition Fees

Based on the Finnish law, a tuition fee will be charged from all non-EU/EEA students. The tuition fee for double degree students varies.
