Wellbeing and Health Competence & Green Care

Our aim is to be the pioneer of smart home care. Our research and development activities focus on strengthening smart nursing and healthcare services and technology in home care environments. We help to overcome new challenges in healthcare by collaborating with different organisations, companies and employees. We offer expertise and training in applying technological healthcare solutions (in cooperation with other competence areas) and in reinforcing social and healthcare professionals’ abilities to use digital solutions. We can also provide comprehensive expertise in social and healthcare leadership, management and development, such as collaborative service development enhanced by service design.

We have sound expertise in the use of simulations in teaching and in developing areas of clinical nursing such as palliative care, acute care and gerontological nursing. We unite innovations such as virtual reality with clinical nursing expertise to strengthen the competence and knowledge of our students and working life. Learning environments enhanced by new technologies provide the opportunity to work in near-real situations. Our campus utilises a simulation, virtual reality, and smart home care learning environment. In addition, we also use the Kätevä koti (Handy home) environment located in the hospital grounds.

We have been developing Green Care university training and have promoted Green Care competence for social and healthcare services. We offer strong expertise in developing the Green Care industry.
