Kajaani University of Applied Sciences International Virtual Winter School will be held on week 9. The virtual Winter School gathered a record number of international participants from KAMK’s partner institutions abroad. In addition to KAMK students and staff, 300 international students and 40 teachers from 23 different countries, have registered for the virtual Winter School courses.
The general theme of the week is “We Shape the Future”. Different schools organize the week with their own themes and the length of the week varies from School to School. At the School of Health and Social Services, students apply nursing-scientific and evidence-based knowledge and develop their professional and intercultural competence in a virtual environment.
The School of Business focuses on current human resource management challenges in global business. The KAMK School of Information Systems organizes guest lectures on gaming, serious games and other related topics with its partners.
During the Winter School, a joint course called "Smart Solutions for Wellbeing Service Development and Management" is organized with the Hochschule Neu-Ulm, Germany. The extent of the course is 5 ECTS and it is open only to master students at Hochschule Neu-Ulm and KAMK.
KAMK has organized international weeks on its campus for several years. This year, the International Winter School is organized virtually, which allows networking in a situation where COVID-19 restrictions prevent gatherings.
“The world around us has changed because of the corona pandemic. Especially through joint studies like these, we have the opportunity to share know-how and change the world for the better. We are glad that the level of education at KAMK has been found to be of such a high quality that universities want to cooperate with us. This way we can bring the latest know-how to Kainuu”, says Matti Sarén, the President of KAMK.
