Can I use the library’s e materials anywhere else apart from the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences network?
You can if you are a student or member of staff of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. Go to the KAMK-Finna via the library’s homepage. External customers can utilize e materials by using the library’s computers.
How do I obtain a library card?
When you visit the library complete a customer information form and present proof of identity and we will register you as a library customer. You can use your student card, your Kajaani Public Library card or cards for other municipal libraries in Kainuu, or the Oulu University Library card as your personal library card. If you do not have any of these, we will provide you with a library card.
Can I borrow books even if I do not a study at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences?
Yes you can. The library is open to all. When you visit the library complete the customer information form and register as a library customer at the customer service desk.
How many books can I borrow at the same time?
There are no restrictions as to how many books you can borrow.
How much does it cost to use the library?
It does not cost anything to use the library. Of course we do charge a fine for the late return of borrowed material, so it is worth making sure that you return your books on time. Return or renew your loan by the due date at the latest.
Where can get a Pin code I need to renew my loans?
Select Renew loans from the direct links on the library’s homepage. The default pin code is 12345, change it to something else.
How much does it cost to reserve a book?
We do not charge reservation fees. You can reserve a book on loan via the Internet and we will notify you of your reservation by email. However we do charge a fine for the late return of loaned material so please make sure that you return or renew your loans on time!
Can I pay my fines using a debit/credit card?
No, we do not accept debit and credit cards.
What should I do if a book I have borrowed has been reserved and therefore cannot be renewed and I happen to be away and not immediately returning to Kajaani?
Send the book by post addressing it to Kajaanin ammattikorkeakoulun kirjasto (Kajaani University of Applied Sciences Library), Ketunpolku 1a, 87100 KAJAANI
Can I borrow journals?
You cannot borrow the latest issue but older issues can be borrowed for one week at a time and the newspaper loan can be renewed if necessary. Journals back issues are kept for 5-10 years.
Where do I return my books when the library is closed?
There is a box for returning books behind the library and next to the entrance in the lobby of the library.
