Data Center Specialization

Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Technology

The objective of the Data Center degree is to provide students with an overview of data center solutions, through the study of key server and workstation products as well as modern organizational network solutions. In addition to the basic skills of maintenance, this degree provides you with the ability to design and develop IT solutions as a part of organizational development.

The Data center solutions major examines operating systems, server systems, virtualization, network environments and data security. You will do your professional studies in an information technology laboratory or through virtualized environments, with an emphasis on individual work and practical training.

The Data center major enables students to work in their very own datacenter training facility, the DC lab, in which they are granted administrator status. The DC lab is very versatile and efficient while representing the latest available technology. The students' DC lab is a unique learning environment in Finland. Through project studies, it is also possible for data center students to specialize in game server solutions, implementation and maintenance.

For several years running, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences has been developing traditional system expert training to better match the broad range of work opportunities in the data center industry, from facility solutions to service offerings. KAMK was shortlisted for an award in the “Best Programme for Data Centre Training and Professional Development” category in the Datacloud Awards 2018.
