The new Esports  Business degree, taught in English, at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) beginning in autumn 2018, will be included for the first time in the joint university application process between 9. – 24.1.2018. You can apply for the degree at

According to Janus Pitkänen, Head of the Esports  Business degree at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, “The aim of the new degree is to produce esports professionals and to generate new business in this area. Esports  is a rapidly growing market environment and with this degree we hope to meet the increasing demand for experts in this field.” The Esports  Business degree provides students with the skills and competence to work in an international electronic sports business environment. “The degree is taught completely in English and it is intended that about half of our students will come from abroad. We are not training players but electronic sports business experts.”

The focus of the Esports  Business degree lies in international business studies that are facilitated from an esports perspective. Students who graduate with a degree in Esports  Business, will be able to work in esports projects and events, as a coach or marketing professional. The studies enable students to specialise in, for example event management, game development or coaching, according to their own interests. The Esports  Business degree is unique, since there is currently no other higher education qualification in esports business offered in Finland nor around the world.

KAMK is already internationally renowned for its game degree and it is now involved in developing an esports hub in Kajaani in cooperation with the Kainuu Brigade and the Vuokatti-Ruka Sports Academy. The Esports  Business degree will have its own facility with high-performance gaming computers, which is currently under construction in Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. The students’ working environment is also supported by testing services for professional players and by training camps for esports teams.
