Bachelor of Hospitality Management

At the start of the Tourism degree, students will focus on gaining basic skills and knowledge, after which they will apply their acquired learning in practice. Through your studies, you will acquire comprehensive customer-oriented product development and marketing competences, and you will become familiar with different cultures for the purposes of international tourism. The final stages of your studies will utilise your acquired competences in practice, and in the development of different types of smart solutions.

During the duration of the studies, students will carry out different kinds of projects in close collaboration with local companies and organisations. Several tourism destinations will also be explored in person, and through academic study, during the program. It should be noted that in this degree, students spend a significant amount of time outside the classroom, outdoors and in natural surroundings,experiencing tourism services and activities first hand. The main focal areas of the degree are nature activities, cultural perspectives and recreational tourism.

The theme throughout the studies is innovative creativity, responsible and sustainable tourism enterprise development, internationality and personal development.

The degree includes intensive cooperation on a variety of work-based learning assignments, each conducted with actors and businesses operating in the tourism sector.
Applying
Application for the English-taught degree programmes in Finnish higher education institutions are submitted online through the joint application system at www.studyinfo.fi during the application period. Application period for studies starting in autumn 2019 takes place on 9 - 23 January. Eligible applicants will be invited to take the entrance exam. 
Entrance Exams

In this degree, the students will  specialise in either adventure tourism or wellbeing tourism. In the adventure tourism module, students will learn to create and commercialise experiences in the form of summer and winter nature and sports based tourism activities. The wellbeing tourism module enables students to develop wellbeing and wellness experiential service concepts as a part of tourism.

Participating in student exchange and completing part of the studies in one of our partner universities makes it possible to broaden the specialization of your studies. 

The Tourism degree provides students with the skills to work in tourism development, sales, marketing and production tasks, tourism management, and as independent entrepreneurs. 
The entrance examination places emphasis on aptitude for studying the field, motivation, English language and mathematical/logical thinking. In order to be considered for admission, applicants must pass each section of the examination.

KAMK accepts an entrance examination taken in the same entrance exam group at another university of applied sciences.

There is pre-reading material for the entrance exam in Tourism and the material is published on this web site before the entrance exam.  The material will be available until the entrance exam date.
The tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens at KAMK is 6000 euros per academic year (both Bachelor's degrees and Master's degrees). There is no tuition fee for EU/EEA citizens or exchange students. The payment for the first year is done at the same time when accepted student confirms his/her study place at KAMK. 

In addition to the tuition fee, the students must pay for their study materials and for their own living costs. The average monthly living expenses for a student living in Finland are approximately 700 – 900 euros. This may vary depending on personal circumstances. When applying for a residence permit in Finland, non-EU/EEA nationals need to demonstrate that they have at least 560 euros per month at their disposal – in addition to the tuition fee.

For the following study years, the tuition fee must be paid in May yearly. The students will be able to apply for a scholarship of 3000 euros / academic year from their second year onwards, provided that they accomplish a minimum of 55 credits per academic year on Bachelor level or 45 credits on Master level. The scholarships are allocated by application only.

The scholarship is directly used to reduce the tuition fee. The scholarship applies only to the tuition-fee paying students. Read more about tuition fees
